Chip off the Old are a ladies Morris dance side based in Derby.  We have been together since 1978 performing traditional Cotswold Morris dances, using sticks and hankies, and these dances originated in the Cotswold villages of Adderbury, Brackley, Ducklington, Fieldtown, Lichfield and Ilmington.  During the summer months (May to August) we perform at festivals, well dressings, village inns and fairs often with other Morris teams.

Scarborough Castle | June 2014

We dance with a live band using traditional folk music instruments.

It is good fun and an easy way to keep fit and beginners and new members are always very welcome.

If you would like to give it a go then please feel free to just turn up on our next practice. It is free for the first few weeks, then only £2 per week

No equipment needed, just wear some suitable shoes.

Practice is on Wednesdays from 8pm – 10pm, usually at St. Mary’s Community Centre, Derby (see map) or sometimes Holy Family Church, Allestree.  See the Events page for the details about dates and venue addresses.  Both venues have a large free car park.

Please contact us if you would like to join, or for us to perform at your event – see the “Contact” page for details.
